God's Armor

"For Soldiers: Armor is Better Than a Thin Cotton Shirt"

-- Garner Ted Armstrong

From the full title of this website, Victoria Knight ICG (Individual of a Church of God), one can ascertain that the theme portrayed is that of a Knight.

"But why?" you may ask. "And what does this have to do with God?"

The answer is simple.

The concept of the Knight and my attraction to them stems from the hometown school I attended as a child growing up. In Victoria, Kansas, our high school mascot is known as the Victoria Knights. In grade school, however, the youngsters start as Squires. Once the grade-schoolers reach the level of stature and maturity of mind, eventually, they will graduate to the rank of a Knight (high school status).

I have lived in this small Kansas town most of my life, and I am proud to be a "Knight," or, more appropriately, a graduate of Victoria's high school. It is from my K-12 education why I chose this name for my website, but around my 20th birthday, the name became more meaningful. It was around that time that God began to call me.

In Ephesians 6:13-20, Paul instructs us to put on the whole armor of God for our strength and defense. We are to dawn this spiritual armor on our hearts and minds similarly as a Knight dawns his armor on his body in preparation for battle. In a visual form relaying this Scripture passage, I drew by freehand the picture below of a knight from a computer picture printout while in high school. I added to the image a shield along with some detailing where it was lacking. In all, the depiction shows the true Christian righteously wearing the armor of God in a defensive, powerful stance.

2 Corinthians 10:4 - AFV
4.   For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the overthrowing of strongholds,
Ephesians 6:13-20 - AFV
13.   Therefore, take up the whole armor of God so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having worked out all things, to stand.
14.   Stand therefore, having your loins girded about with truth, and wearing the breastplate of righteousness,
15.   And having your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.
16.   Besides all these, take up the shield of the faith, with which you will have the power to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one;
17.   And put on the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God;
18.   Praying at all times with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and in this very thing being watchful with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints;
19.   And for me, that boldness of speech may be given to me so that I may open my mouth to make known the mystery of the gospel,
20.   For which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may speak with boldness, as it behooves me to speak.
