9. For this cause we also, from the day that we heard of it, do not cease to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

It is of no surprise that life is tough, and often we need outside help in our daily struggles. As we solicit aid from family, close friends, and church brethren, we should not neglect to seek assistance from our Father and Jesus Christ through profound, personal prayer. Apart from our daily concerns, praying for the daily needs of the brethren in God's Church is a proper, noble act of love in the eyes of the Lord. Whatever your personal needs are, or the needs of others may be, pray earnestly unto God the Father and Jesus Christ for the intervention desired. Pray for God's will to be done, never ceasing, and wait patiently for His answer.
Whenever possible, it is best to utilize the help of others as you pray for a specific situation. Prayer lines are often available for that very purpose. Always consider that if you submit a prayer request for yourself to use proper etiquette along with your intentions. Be short, concise, and only give what details are necessary without compromising personal data.
If you are submitting a prayer request for someone other than yourself, please keep the following in mind:
- Before placing someone on a prayer list, ask if the party wishes for prayers on their behalf.
- If the party is not able to decide on the above issue, obtain permission from the parties closest to the individual(s).
- Obtain all the facts (not opinions or gossip) of the person's situation before submitting them.
- Keep your submission short and discrete. Do not offer unnecessary details or opinions.
- Personal information, such as names, addresses, etc., should ONLY be included IF DESIRED by the party you are praying for. For example, to receive cards and letters of encouragement, an individual may want to reveal their address. In other situations, or for reasons, some individuals may not want specific information revealed.
