Note: The Scriptures in the following list are listed in their proper canonical order.

(I) Matthew 24:24 - KJV

Original: ...insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Correction: ...insomuch that, if possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

"it were" should not be there. In truth, it IS possible for the elect to be deceived if they are not on their guard and fall prey to deceptions.

(I) Luke 3:23 - KJV

Original: ...being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli...

Correction: ...being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son-in-law of Heli...

Matthew 1:1-16 gives the legal descent of Jesus Christ through Joseph while Luke 3:23-38 gives the fleshly descent through Mary. Therefore, the words "the son" in italics, which are not in the Greek, should read "the son-in-law" for more clarity.

(I) John 8:24 - KJV

Original: ...for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

Correction: ...for if ye believe not that I am, ye shall die in your sins.

In the phrase "I am he" the word "he" was not spoken by Jesus Christ. It is in italics in the King James but there is no "he" in the Greek. Jesus was claiming to be the "I AM" of Exodus 3:14 (C.P. John 8:58). The addition of the italicized word "he" only obscures that very fact.

(I) John 8:28 - KJV

Original: Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he...

Correction: Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am...

Same aspect as John 8:24 above.

(I) II Peter 2:5 - KJV

Original: And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness...

Correction: And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth, a preacher of righteousness

Noah was the eighth preacher of righteousness.

(I) I John 2:23 - KJV

Original: Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: [but] he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

Correction: Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: [but] he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

[but] he...Father also = an addition based upon the Latin text and is not in the original Greek. These italicized words should be omitted.

(I) Romans 1:7 - KJV

Original: To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints...

Correction: To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, the called saints...

True Christians are already now called saints.

(I) I Corinthians 7:19 - KJV

Original: Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God.

Correction: Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God [is essential].

The additional words are only for clarity.

(I) Colossians 2:16-17 - KJV

Original: Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

Correction: Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body of Christ.

These two Scriptures are vastly misunderstood because of the italic "is" in the latter part of v.17. This word should not be there. In the King James (as well as other translations) the word "is" gives the impression that another thought, separate from what is discussed in v.16, is given although it is actually a continuation of the thought. It is also taught, and at times translated, that Christians are to not observe these things. It is actually the body of Christ (i.e. the Church) that shall do the judging of these things and not that of mere men outside of the Church. These things (meat and drink, holy days, new moons, and Sabbaths) are to be still observed because they are shadows of things to come. The True meaning and message of this verse is as follows: "Therefore, let no man, but the body of Christ, judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come."

(I) Revelation 20:10 - KJV

Original: And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Correction: And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet were [or were cast], and they [Satan and the demons] shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

The beast and false prophet are mortal human beings when they are cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 19:20) and because of their mortality, they will burn up and die. It will be one thousand years later that the devil (and his demons) will be thrown into the same lake of fire. In comparison to the beast and false prophet, Satan is spirit, and as a consequence, will be tormented forever. The doctrine of "the immortality of the soul" is not biblical, so the connotation that the beast and false prophet will still be alive in the lake of fire one thousand years later is not correct in translation nor understanding.
